BRITISH WEIGHT PULLING ASSOCIATION The
B.W.P.A was established in 2005 due
to its organisers having a passion for the sport. When we set out to weight pull
we did just the usual like everyone does and made a cart, filled a few sandbags,
obtained a few breeze blocks and classed ourselves
as weight pullers. All this was fine and the
dogs were pulling great, well we thought they were but the weight was to much up
and down due to sand holding moisture. The bags can weigh more in winter
and less in summer and obviously it is very hard to get the bags filled with the
exact same weight. With the breeze blocks they absorb damp and after being
handled a few times bits break off and the weight to us is not accurate en Next up was what can the
B.W.P.A.
offer their members the main concern was a training day once a month so the
members can practice weight pulling on the cart and advice to the members on
drag weight pulling in the week. A good set of rules for the
titles that can be obtained from the B.W.P.A.
What about something different we said then after some serious thought that was
it, we will have a club that not only weight pulls but has training days and
titling days as much advice as anyone can have it was to run similar to the judo
clubs most of us have attended at some time but instead of taking grading you
take titles ie weight pull one etc. and a few contests each year to obtain a
champion weight puller a bit like Britain strongest man not just for strength
but for the super strong and fit canine a contest that all dogs must pull under
the B.W.P.A. rules to find
the strongest canine in the UK. Also weight pull and endurance contest
where every dog is to pull at every weight
increment this would show how much time and effort the owner and dog are putting
in and let the best dog
win this would find the fittest strongest canine here in the
UK. Everyone and any breed are welcome to the events |
